THE EIGHT BUILDING BLOCKS TO OPTIMAL
HEALTH An 8 course study on the science of Natural Health
|
Building Block #1 - ATTITUDE
|
Healthy thought patterns are fundamental
to our physical health. This class teaches that attitude is much more than positive thinking. We discuss the scientific
basis to the mind-body connection and how it impacts our health and our world either positively or negatively. Stress
is detrimental to our bodies, emotionally and physically. We discuss effective measures to transform our perceptions of
the many stressors in our lives.

|
Building Block #2 - NUTRITION
|
Food is the bio-chemistry of life! In this class
we discuss the natural chemical properties of foods and how balanced nutrition provides the fuel for all metabolic functions
in our body. Food is our source of energy and healing if it is not processed, laden with chemicals, or genetically
modified. It maintains optimal health and can be our 'medicine' in times of illness. We dispel many nutritional
myths in this class, such as the Myth of Saturated Fat, the Myth of the Food Guide Pyramid, the Myth of Drinking Lots of Water
and more.
|
| |
Building Block #3 - DIGESTION
|
You are what you digest! All chronic health
problems and weak immune systems start with a break down in the digestive process. In this class we discuss how
the body digests fats, proteins and carbohydrates. Once again we expose many myths about heartburn, acid reflux,
food allergies and other indigestion issues. You will learn about the importance of chewing food well,
digestive enzymes and the part that pH plays in your digestive system. Adequate digestion is the key to health. It
provides the body with the nutrients and tools for rebuilding and repair.

|
Building Block #4 - ASSIMILATION
|
Until assimilation occurs, the food you've eaten is NOT
in the body. This Building Block discusses primarily the small intestine's role in delivering nutrients to the blood
stream for the body's use. It is a fascinating process and you will see how important adequate stomach digestion
is to prevent "Leaky Gut" in the small intestinal lining. Poor assimilation results in food intolerances and
allergies, besides malnutrition. We also discover in this class the importance of real salt in the assimilation process.

Building Block #5 - UTILIZATION
|
|
What happens to nutrients once they are delivered to the blood
stream? How do our human cells create energy? Learning about the miracle of Utilization will reveal the importance
of balanced nutrition, glucose and carbon dioxide.. all vital for optimal energy. And we are all seeking more energy!

Building Block #6 - ELIMINATON
|
|
We cannot be healthy with an unhealthy colon. Yet, there is no such thing
as a "colon" problem! The problem lies prior to the large intestine. So what about all the colon diseases
that many suffer from and are being treated with drastic surgeries? What is a 'normal' bowel movement and
how can we achieve that on a regular basis? Even though it is a personal topic Elimination must be discussed openly to
avoid the consequences of a toxic colon.
|
| |
Building Block #7 - MOVEMENT/EXCERCISE
|
|
Did you know that a hot bath for 20 minutes is equal cardiovascular-wise to
an hour's workout at the gym? And without the lactic acid production in your muscles! Learn the difference
between movement and strenous excercise in this class and the potential harm of endurance excercise.
|
| |
Building Block #8 - ENVIRONMENT
|
|
We are intricately connected to the environment we live in. How can we protect
ourselves from the toxic world we've created? What are we putting on our skin and breathing into our lungs that
cumulatively exhaust our immune system and drive our bodies into disease? Why should we not sleep with our electrical
alarm clock right by our head? We cannot transport ourselves to another cleaner world, but there are many significant changes
we can make to lessen the toxic burden and increase our resilence to the barage of environmental insults in our daily lives.
